MP: 116 children die due to malnutrition

New Delhi: The health crisis issue was once again highlighted in Madhya Pradesh when 116 children lost their lives due to malnutrition on Wednesday. Owing to the negligence on the part of the state, the national human rights body served a notice to the state.

Previously, a survey by the health authorities in the state had found 461 children malnourished in Sheopur district of Madhya Pradesh.

Around 10 teams of National Health Mission, state women and child development department, and UNICEF conducted an extensive survey in 106 villages in the district and examined 3,805 children for malnutrition.

In just five days, the survey concluded giving some astonishing figures regarding the effect of malnutrition on the state. The survey stated that 461 children in the district suffering from malnutrition with 145 of them critically malnourished.
