SC allows Italian marine Latorre to stay in Italy, till jurisdiction issue is decided

New Delhi: In a recent development on Wednesday Supreme Court allowed the second Italian Marine Massimiliano Latorre to stay in Italy, till the jurisdiction issue is decided. Earlier his associate Salvatore Girone had also been allowed stay in Italy.

Marines Massimiliano Latorre and Salvatore Girone are facing trial in India for allegedly killing two fishermen off the coast of Kerala.

Salvatore Girone was granted stay in Italy on health ground s. Massimiliano Latorre’s stay in Italy was to end on September 30 but the Supreme Court order has given him an extension.

Latorre had earlier expressed in the apex court that he would like to stay home till the jurisdiction for the trial is decided.
