Doctors in the national sanctuary were worried over Shyamal’s health condition

New Delhi: Health of Shyamal, the famous Asiatic Lion and one of main attractions of Sarthana Nature Park in Surat, continued to deteriorate on the 25th day of his illness.

Doctors in the national sanctuary were worried over the lion’s health condition.

“Shyamal did respond to treatment in between. However his condition has relapsed now. Cause of deteriorating health not diagnosed,” said Rajesh Patel veterinary doctor in Sarthana.

The Asiatic lion is a lion subspecies that exists as a single population in Gujarat. It is listed as Endangered by International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) due to its small population size.

Last month, lions Rana and Kanha, at the Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens in the UK gave birth to their first triplets ever.

Asiatic Lion

Sitting in a small cage isn't going to help him get any better. He looks depressed and overly thin, At 20+ days of him being ill hes not gonna just magically get better! He's suffering but because he's one of the main attractions he's being kept alive in that small cage in what's most likely his final days. Let him go! Shame on this zoo for doing this to him!
