New Delhi: After the all party meet on Cauvery issue concluded a cabinet meeting was called which is now underway.
During the all party meeting no solution over the dispute of distribution of Cauvery water could be found. When the meeting concluded Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal Secular (JDS) supported Karnataka government’s stand on not releasing water to Tamil Nadu.
Former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda began an indefinite strike on Saturday against the Supreme Court’s order regarding the Cauvery water issue.
The issue started in 1893. If there is no rain, how can we release water monthly, weekly? Let the people of this country judge whether we are habitual offenders, or whether Tamil Nadu is intimidating. We made a humble request to send the same monitoring committee to visit Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. These are all the issues which need debate in the Parliament,” HD Deve Gowda said.
