New Delhi: A 44-year-old man, suspected to be the key accused in the 2002 terror attack on American Centre in Kolkata, has been arrested by the Gujarat Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS).

Hasan Imam was arrested by the ATS after the latter received a tip-off pertaining to his whereabouts. On Saturday, authorities swooped in on Hasan Imam and arrested him from his residence in Aurangabad in Bihar.

According to the ATS, Imam was a member of the banned terror group Harkat-ul-Jihadi-Islam (HuJI).

Not only on terror attack, Hasan's name has also been mentioned in the kidnapping of two Rajkot-based jewellers in November 2000 which involved a ransom of Rs 1.5 crore.
