New Delhi: After Pakistan violated ceasefire on Monday morning, India used 120mm mortars in Poonchh in retaliatory firing. This decision was taken after Pakistan fired 120mm mortars injuring 5 Indian civilians.
Pakistan on Monday morning violated the ceasefire in Shahpur sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district.
As per current reports, the Indian army fired 6kms into Pakistan territory. the three civilians who were injured were receiving medical care at a hospital.
This comes hours after a terrorist attack at an Army base in Baramulla on Sunday night in which an army jawan was killed.
The Pakistani troops resorted to heavy motor shelling at Shahpur on the Indian side of the Line of Control (LoC).
Police said 82 mm mortar shelling was started in Shahapur area on the LoC by Pakistan army to target Indian positions on Monday morning.

Earlier in the morning, a ceasefire violation by Pakistan rangers along the border was reported in Gurdaspur district of North Punjab.
Ever since the surgical strikes carried out by the Indian Army across the LoC on September 26 took place, such ceasefire has become frequent.
A BSF official said, “They fired at the BSF post. Our troopers immediately retaliated the firing. The intruders retreated back to Pakistan. A search operation has been launched in the area today (Monday) morning.”
