Make way for Didi’s Durga avatar!

New Delhi: Two Durga Pujo pandals in Bengal have created ‘spiritual’ sensation among the people. While in one of the pandals the idol of Goddess Durga has been modelled on Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, in the other the CM is seen receiving blessings from Goddess Durga.
The modelled statue of Didi that was inaugurated at Prantik Club on October 4 idol shows the TMC supremo draped in her signature white-and-blue-border sari and hawai chappal (flip-flops). The idol that is made with fibreglass shows Didi holding symbols indicating the various government schemes that she introduced in the past 5 years. The background of the statue is really interesting as it is designed according to the map of Bengal that marks all the 25 districts of the state.
The other idol made at the Bhawanipore Dugotsav Samity pandal portrays a woman draped in a white coloured saree with blue border resembling Mamata Banerjee. The figure is seen offering flowers to the goddess and seeking blessings. As per a Times of India report, the face of Mahishasura, the demon, looks similar to that of former opposition leader Suryakanta Mishra of CPI (M).
