Girl dies after Deputy Speaker’s son’s car rams into another

Coimbatore: A fun trip of some college youth turned into a tragic one when the 19-year old son of Tamil Nadu assembly deputy speaker Pollachi V Jayaraman lost control of his vehicle and hit the divider. The impact caused the car to flip to the other side of the road which then rammed into a car coming from the opposite direction.
J Pravin is a first year student pursuing fashion technology in Coimbatore. Pravin was behind the wheel accompanied by his friend Tilak, and four other girls. The group was heading to Erode to visit a friend.
Due to the impact of the collision of the car into the divider, one of his friends Sulekha was thrown out of the car. On reaching the spot, police found Sulekha’s body hanging out of the car. Pravin also sustained injuries but his were lesser due to airbags. His other four friends also suffered injuries and were rushed to a private hospital.
According to police, Pravin was driving the car at a speed of 120 km/hr. He has been booked under IPC section 304 a (causing death by negligence), IPC section 337 (causing hurt by an act endangering life) and for rash driving.
