New Delhi: As per the report of Justice Ashok Roopanwal Committee which was looking out for the circumstances which lead to the Hyderabad Central University student Rohith Vemula's suicide, it has said that Rohith's mother faked Dalit status and also that Rohit killed himself out of personal frustration and not because of any discrimination against him.

The report which basically puts the University authorities at guilt says that it was Rohith's mother V Radhika who claimed the Dalit status to avail the schedule caste (SC) benefits. The report further gave a clean chit to the former Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Smriti Irani suggesting that there was no interference from then HRD ministers or the officials.

Commenting on the report, now HRD Minister, Prakash Javadekar said, "We thought controversy over Rohith's caste had died down. But with the report coming out, questions will be raised. The government is not going to make his caste an issue".

Meanwhile in Hyderabad, the report was rubbished by Rohith's family and supporters. Rohith Vemula's brother Raja said, "The Centre was targeting his family."  As per sources, The University of Hyderabad Joint Action Committee for Social Justice has planned to hold protests against the report on the campus on Friday.
