New Delhi: Communist Party of India (CPI) general secretary Sitaram Yechury on Saturday hit out at Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government. Yechury said that the surgical strikes issue had been politicised by the BJP and called it a despicable attempt.
He said, “Despicable to see an Indian Army operation being misused for political gains in rallies and on election posters of the BJP. Line deliberately being blurred between ruling political party, its fountain head and Central government. India far bigger than their PR machine.”
On the intervening night for 28 and 29 September, Indian Army conducted surgical strikes along the LoC in Pakistan where seven terror launch pads were targeted overnight, using hellebore and ground forces.
On the evening of the strikes after a all party meeting Yechury said, “We have seen our DGMO briefing, saw the Pakistani reaction, besides that we have no official information.”
