New Delhi: The Oxford English Dictionary has now included the popular endearing southern phrase ‘Aiyo’ in its latest edition.
The OED added the word in its latest data base last month and has defined it as , “In southern India and Sri Lanka, expressing distress, regret, or grief; ‘Oh no!’, ‘Oh dear!”.
Aport from Aiyo, the dictionary has also included its variations ‘Aiyoh’ and ‘Aiyah’ in the database.
The OED updates its bank of words four times a year. This month’s list also includes some interesting words like biatch, butt-f**k, jagoff, ‘Merica, scrumdiddlyumptious, moobs, yoda and YOLO.
