Police arrest ex-security guard in Monika Ghurde’s murder case

New Delhi: The murder mystery of the famous perfumer Monika Ghurde, who was found dead at her Goa residence in Sangolda, seems to be getting solved. One of the suspects has been arrested by the Goa Police.

The accused, identified as Rajkumar Singh, resident of Bhatinda, Punjab, worked as a security guard in the apartment where Ghurde lived. He was sacked after perfumer lodged a complaint against him.

The accused was nabbed from a guest house in Bengaluru's Cottonpet, from where he was thinking of fleeing to Chandigarh.

Polorim police, after registering the case, formed special teams and sent them to different places like Delhi and Maharashtra, in order to nab the absconding culprit.

Things came into light when during the investigation it was found that Ghurde’s card was used at an ATM at Porvorim, about 3km from Ghurde’s residence. The accused was captured withdrawing money using Ghurde’s ATM card, police said on Saturday. Two men were seen in the camera of an ATM.

The details of the murderer checking in at a hotel in Bengaluru were also accessed by police.

During interrogation Rajkumar told that his motive was to steal money, but when Monika started shouting and crying, he strangulated her to death.

Rajkumar would be brought to Goa on Monday where police will interrogate him further after moving for remand.
