New Delhi: A ticket examiner at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus in Mumbai was thrashed up by an income tax officer on Saturday.

In a footage taken from close circuit camera, Sujit Gupta was seen being beaten up by Rishi Kumar, an assistant commissioner of income tax who works at Churchgate head office.

According to Gupta, Kumar was found travelling without ticket and refused to pay the fine.

Later an argument broke out between the two. Then Kumar took out his footwear and started beating him.

The Government Railway Police has registered a case under Section 353,323 and 427 of IPC against the tax officer. He has been served a notice.

Last month, railway police stopped the Mumbai-bound Dadar Express train at Ghataprabha station and carried out a search following an alert by a woman passenger over a suspected bag that belonged to another passenger. Later the woman was caught travelling without a ticket and fined.
