Samajwadi ‘Smartphone Yojana' launched by Akhilesh; distribution to begin after elections

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav launched its ‘smartphone yojana’ on Monday. With elections less than six months far, it looks like an election strategy. However, Akhilesh Yadav has denied any such thing.
Under the scheme, all the residents of Uttar Pradesh, above 18 years of age and at least high school pass out, is eligible for it. The people can register for the offer online, the registration of which is going to be for a period of one month.
The registration for the scheme has already begun, but the distribution of smartphones will take after the election of the new state government.
Akhilesh Yadav, during the launch of the scheme, said that Uttar Pradesh has not witnessed any “achhe din” since last 2.5 years.
A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed in the Allahabad High Court challenging the party’s smartphone scheme, which was dismissed by the court on Sunday.
