New Delhi: In protest against the murder of a party worker in Kannur district on Wednesday, the Kerala unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) called for 12-hour shutdown tomorrow. The state-wide "harthal" will be started from 6 am to 6 pm on Thursday.

BJP claimed that its worker Remith was killed by rival CPI-M activists and protested over the incident.

The activist was attacked by unidentified assailants in Pinarayi town. He was severely wounded and succumbed on his way to the hospital.

The heinous crime incident took place just two days after a CPI-M worker was hacked to death at Valankichal near Anjarakkandy in politically sensitive Kannu district.
