The JNU administration has ordered a probe into the burning of effigies of PM Modi.

New Delhi: The Jawahar Lal University (JNU) administration on Thursday ordered a probe into the burning of effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the university campus on Dussehra.

“We have ordered an inquiry into the effigy burning incident and are examining the issue,” said JNU Vice Chancellor Jagadesh Kumar.

A group of students, apparently from the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), celebrated the festival by burning effigies of Narendra Modi as Ravana.

As per reports the incident took place at the Saraswati Dhaba in JNU.

Apart from PM Modi, effigies of BJP President Amit Shah, Baba Ramdev, Sadhvi Pragya, Nathuram Godse, Asaram Bapu and the university Vice-Chancellor.

According to sources, the students wanted to protest against the Modi government for failing on their promises and for 'attacking' various educational institutions.
