New Delhi: Kerala Industries Minister EP Jayarajan has officially quit Pinarayi Vijayan Cabinet after nepotism charges were levied against him. His resignation is line with stern reaction by the CPI(M) concerning the charges.

The Kerala minister officially quit the party on Friday in a press conference following critical censure by CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury who exclaimed that strictest action would be taken into the matter. The party was to first discuss the issue and then arrive at a conclusion.

The appointment of PK Sudhir Nambiar, Jayarajan's nephew and the appointment of PK Sreemathi's son as the MD of the Kerala State Industrial Enteprises had lead to the charges of nepotism against Jayarajan.
