New Delhi: The Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) has claimed responsibility for the Zakura attack in which two jawans of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) were killed and eight others injured on Friday.
Al-Umar Mujahideen terrorist organisation, led by Mushtaq Ahmed Zargar, who is a member of JeM, carried out the attack and said they will continue carrying out such acts in future also.
“We will continue such attacks,” said Al-Umar Chief Mushtaq Zargar in a tele-statement to a Kashmir daily.”
Mushtaq was released from jail in 1990 as a part of the Indian Airlines Flight 814 hostage deal.
On Friday evening, terrorists attacked the vehicle carrying SSB jawans to their camp after performing their duties in Zakura.
Speaking on the incident, IG SSB, Deepak Kumar said, “Jawans retaliated but couldn’t fire aggressively given the civilian population. 2 jawans lost his life, while 8 others are injured.”
The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital and the entire area was cordoned off to look out for militants.
