New Delhi: After a complaint was filed at the Amboli station in Mumbai regarding the exhibition of a Pakistani film at the Jio MAMI 18th Mumbai Film Festival with Star, MAMI on Monday announced that it will not showcase Pakistani films.

Jago Hua Savera is a 1959 classic film directed by AJ Kardar. It was scheduled to be showcased at MAMI 18th Mumbai Film Festival with Star from October 20.

The complainant, Prithvi Maske told reporters, “”We have filed a complaint at Amboli police station against MAMI film festival which has plans to showcase a Pakistani film at the festival. Our intentions are very clear. We will protest against the festival if they showcase this film. We will be protesting outside Infinity Mall where the event is taking place.”

MAMI will exhibit more than 180 films from 54 different countries. Short films, documentaries and features will all be in the fray.

India recently banned Pakistani actors from working in the country following the Uri attack where terrorists killed 19 Indian soldiers.
