Officials at the airport claimed that the tyres getting deflated at the taxiway was fortunate

New Delhi: Passengers in the Air India flight from Ahmedabad underwent a brief period of apprehension after one of the wheels of their flight deflated on a taxiway.

Around 128 passengers onboard the flight during when the flight was moving to the airstrip from the taxiway.

Officials at the airport claimed that the tyres getting deflated at the taxiway was fortunate because an airplane with a deflated tyre sitting in the main airstrip could've prevented other planes from flying.

“A similar tyre burst on the runway could have held up peak hour traffic and had a cascading effect on the entire day’s schedule,” HT quoted an official as saying.

The incident occurred around 8:55pm at the Mumbai airport.
