New Delhi: A 44-year-old Karnataka police officer shot himself at his office on Tuesday morning, reports said.

The inspector, Raghavendra, was found dead in his office at a police station in Kolar. The police station is around 70 kms away from Bengaluru city.

According to the police, Raghavendra allegedly shot himself with his service revolver. The reason behind his alleged suicide has not been revealed as yet.

In 2012, Raghavendra's name was mentioned in the investigation by an anti-corruption watchdog. The police officer went into executive posting after the investigation.

Raghavendra is survived by his daughter.

MK Ganapathy's death has also been shrouded in mystery since it was not made abundantly clear whether the officer committed suicide or was killed.  Ganapathy alleged that he was being constantly harassed by George and IPS officers AM Prasad and Pronab Mohanty. It was after Ganapathy's son filed an FIR against George which led to his resignation.
