Srinagar: In a fresh video message which is being widely circulated through social media, the Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militant Zakir Rashid Bhat has asked the Kashmiri youth to snatch weapons from the security forces if they want to be part of the militant outfit.
In the video, Zakir is seen holding a grenade in his hand and tells young men and women of Kashmir that they are welcome to come and join their ranks.
According to reports, Zakir Rashid Bhat has been a close associate of Burhan Wani, the militant who was killed in an encounter a few months back. Sources have also revealed that Zakir Rashid has taken over the same group that was headed by Burhan Wani.
As per the data by various agencies, there have been at least 8 incidents of weapon snatching in the last three months. However, police and army together are planning a strategy to control this menace.

Burhan Wani's successor

While the Hizbul Mujahideen needs to be fought and eliminated, the govt should also ponder over the root cause of the problem. It is well known that Burhan Wani turned to separatism after he and his brother were beaten up for no fault of theirs. Earlier, he even wanted to join the Army! Force won't solve the problem. The supporters of militancy have to be convinced that it is better to be with India.
