Chennai: In yet another big development in the politics of Tamil Nadu, chief of Opposition party Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) M Karunanidhi on Thursday officially named MK Stalin his political successor.

With party supremo Karunanidhi announcing him as the political heir, it has also put an end to all the speculations and political tussle between MK Stalin and his already snubbed brother MK Alagiri over who will take on the party reins.

This new development in the party has also come as another shocker for MK Alagiri, who did not get any important role in the party during the last assembly elections, which was won by J Jayalalithaa.

Following his difference with MK Stalin during the last assembly elections, Alagiri, had announced a split from the party.
