New Delhi: In a big jolt to Congress, party’s senior leader Rita Bahuguna Joshi on Thursday quit the party and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This adds to a series of woes the Grand Old Party is facing in the key UP Assembly Elections scheduled next year.
NewsX spoke exclusively to leaders of three key national parties – Sudhanshu Trivedi (BJP), Pawan Khera (Congress) and Gaurav Bhatia (SP) – to get to the bottom of crisis and find out what forced Bahuguna to take such a drastic decision ahead of UP polls.
BJP’s Sudhanshu Trivedi feels a slack in the leadership in Congress is responsible for party’s crumbling. However, Khera does not agree with Trivedi’s opinion and says there is nothing wrong in Congress and only the leaders with greater political ambitions have quit the party.
Samajwadi Party’s Gaurav Bhatia criticised both the parties and said SP was the only party which nurtured talent from the grassroots. Bhatia added that unlike Congress and BJP, no one in his party even thinks of leaving the outfit as they have complete faith in SP’s strong leadership.
