New Delhi: One passenger with currency worth Rs 2.77 crores was arrested by custom officials at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) on Saturday.
As per the officials, the passenger was boarding a flight from New Delhi to Hong Kong just prior to his arrest.
Upon checking of his baggage, assorted currencies of USD 340000, Australian dollars 14000, Saudi Arabian Riyal, 82500 Qatar Riyal, 8500 UAE Dirham and 136000 and Yen 100000 was recovered from his possession.
The passenger has been arrested under Section 104 of the Customs Act 1962, while the currency has been seized under Section 110 of the same act.
