New Delhi: Arms dealer Abhishek Verma on Saturday rejected the allegations of purported defence leaks by BJP MP Varun Gandhi to him, saying the photos being circulated on social media are “morphed”. Abhishek also said that he hasn’t seen BJP MP Varun Gandhi in last ten years and it is a part of the larger political controversy.
“I am innocent, haven’t done anything. It’s a political conspiracy,” Abhishek Verma said.
The arms dealer said he is initiating a suit for criminal defamation against Edmonds Allen, Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav.
“I am suing Prashant Bhushan, Yogendra Yadav and the team. Will see them in court next week,” Verma said.
Swaraj Abhiyan had on Thursday released a letter written by US-based lawyer C. Edmonds Allen to the Prime Minister’s Office that alleged BJP MP Varun Gandhi was “honey trapped and compromised” by defence middleman Abhishek Verma.
The letter, written on September 16, said that “a member of parliament of defence consultative committee named Varun Gandhi has been honey trapped and compromised by the notorious arms dealer Abhishek Verma.”
The letter was released by Swaraj Abhiyan leaders Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan at a press conference here. Allen has also sent the letter to Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.
Yadav said Allen was a former partner of Verma and had parted ways with him in 2012.
