New Delhi: A 64-year-old Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) professor D Murthy died in the university campus because the authorities could not arrange for an ambulance for six hours. The professor was a cancer patient.
Professor’s doctors at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC) had advised that he should be shifted to a Delhi hospital after his condition deteriorated following surgery on Sunday.
Murthy was the chairman of AMU’s department of modern Indian languages.
As per reports, a three member panel has been formed to investigate the matter. The initial probe however indicates that the delay was because of the negligence by administrative staff.
Earlier, five doctors of JNMC were booked for negligence after a student died of dengue during treatment at the hospital.
