Lucknow: The war between Samajwadi Party state president Shivpal Yadav and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav allegedly escalated on Wednesday. There were speculations that another close aide of Akhilesh Yadav, Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Agarwal, will be sacked from the party.
Earlier this morning, Shivpal Yadav wrote a letter to CM Akhilesh Yadav about the indiscipline by one of his ministers of state Pawan Pandey who holds the forest ministry. Pandey was accused by Ashu Malik, an MLC of the party, for allegedly slapping him and manhandling him. Subsequently, Pandey was sacked from all party positions for six years.
Pawan Pandey is known to be a close aide of CM Akhilesh Yadav. He was elected as an MLA from the constituency of Ayodhya in the 2012 Assembly Elections. He was also elected as the vice-president of the student union in University of Lucknow in 2004.
Pandey had defeated Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) veteran Lallu Singh from Ayodhya, creating a stir. Samajwadi Party became the first party in the area to upset the BJP after the Babri Masjid demolition.
