New Delhi: At least eight people died and several others were injured after a major fire broke out at in cracker shops in Rustampura village of Vaghodia tehsil of Vadodara district on Friday evening.

Fire tenders were immediately rushed to the spot to douse the flames.

As many as eight bodies were pulled out from the site.

The fire started at a cracker shop in the evening and spread to the adjoining cracker shops and residential structures, Vadodara (rural) SP Saurabh Tolumbia said.

The injured were taken to SSG hospital for treatment.
