New Delhi: Ailing Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has put her thumb impression instead of putting in a signature to approve the nomination of three AIADMK candidates for Aravakurichi, Thanjavur and Thirupparankundram.

The CM’s signature was sought by the candidates since they had to fill up forms and attest them with the signature from the chief of the party. The Chief Minister has to sign on Form A and Form B to inform the Election Commission of the official approval of the party candidates.

“The signatory is presently hospitalised in Apollo Hospitals, Greams Road, Chennai. Since the signatory has undergone tracheotomy recently and has an inflamed right hand, she is temporally unable to affix her signature. Hence, she has affixed her left thumb impression on her own in my presence,” TOI quotes Dr P Balaji has saying.

Jayalalithaa has been in the news since she was admitted to the Apollo Hospital due to dehydration. Much speculation has been passed about her health despite her party members assuring that the CM is in convalescence.
