New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday launched the much awaited Samajwadi Vikas Rath Yatra in the state capital Lucknow.
The anticipated yatra was initially scheduled for October 3, but postponed after a bitter power struggle broke out in the Yadav clan.

Later, Akhilesh had written a letter to his father and Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav informing him that he would be setting out on the campaign trail from November 3. He also wrote that the details of the programme would be, from time to time, informed to the district presidents of the party.
The second leg of the yatra is likely to begin from Kanpur on November 5.
