Surat: In an unfortunate incident, an 8-year-old girl was killed by a leopard in Surat. The deceased, identified as Nikita Vasava, belonged to Vadi Faliya village of Umarpada, Surat.

The incident took place in the village, and this is the second time, within a month that such an attack has taken place. Earlier also, a leopard had attacked a boy and had injured him.

As is usually seen in the villages where people go in the open filed to attend nature’s call, Nikita and her two friends had also gone for the same. It is then when the tiger caught hold her by the waist and dragged her into forest. Her two friends shouted for help, listening which the villagers came rushing there.

While the villagers were pursuing the wild cat, the tiger left the girl behind and vanished. However, when the villagers reached the spot where the tiger had left Nikita, she had already taken her last breath.

Gujarat assembly speaker and tribal minister Ganpat Vasava, who is a native of the Vadi village was present when the incident took place. He announced Rs 4 lakh compensation for the deceased girl’s family.
The minister also told that five more cages have been put in the area to catch the leaopard.
