New Delhi: The National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Thursday directed the Chief Secretary of Delhi to hold an urgent with all concerned authorities on the prevailing pollution issue.

The environment enforcement also ordered the chief secretary to file a status report by Friday.

The capital city witnessed severe level of air quality since Diwali festival. Residents complained about irritation in eyes, cough and other discomfort due to the plunging level of air quality.

According to global air pollution data, air quality was among the world’s worst and between 40% and 100% worse in five north Indian cities than at the same time the preceding year.
