Pune: Incidents involving torturing of animals, especially dogs, are frequently coming to light these days. In another such incident, people took inhumanity to a new low by tying a dog to motorcycle and dragging it for around two kilometres before it breathed it’s last at Sus village on November 3.
Two women software engineers witnessed the entire horrific incident and narrated the incident to a local animal activist, Anson Palakkal. The Hinjewadi Police, on complaint of the activist, booked five unidentified youths under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960 provisions.
Palakkal, in his complaint told that the men were on two bikes and attacked the dog first with sticks, after which the dog became unconscious. The youths then tied a nylon rope around the dog’s neck which they then tied to the motorcycle. They then dragged the poor animal for around two kilometres, who then died due to severe injuries and brutal torture.
The deceased dog was around five years old.
