New Delhi: In the wake of post-Diwali smog in the capital, the sale of pollution masks in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) has gone up in the past weeks, while the neighbouring regions are running out of stock.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday termed Delhi as a ‘gas chamber’ and said govt must intervene in helping to curb the pollution in the state.

A mask seller in Delhi said the demand this season has multiplied by ten times.

“The demand is so much that we finish our stocks by mid-day and have to replenish our stocks. We generally stock masks around Diwali every year but this season the demand has multiplied like 10 times.”

Residents are complaining that due to the shortage of masks, they have to order online.

Delhi is facing the worst smog in 17 years according to the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE).
