New Delhi: A fresh twist in the Tipu Sultan row has surfaced where Congress has questioned State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president BS Yeddyurappa about his appearance as Tipu Sultan in 2012.

As per a photo* of BS Yeddyurappa from 2012, he is seen in the picture dressed as Tipu Sultan. Congress has questioned this and asked the state president what changed in the last four years.

Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah has questioned BS Yeddyurappa and said what changed in these four years. But BJP maintains their stand that Tipu Sultan was a tyrant and a murderer of Hindus so his Jayanti should not be celebrated whereas Congress says he was a freedom fighter.

The image of the BJP state chief dressed as Tipu Sultan has gone viral and has created a new buzz in the Tipu Sultan row.

BJP members on Thursday protested against the celebration of Tipu Sultan Jayanti in Karnataka. The workers also demanded NIA investigation into the killing of 17 BJP members and activists from various right-wing organisations since the last year.

“Over 17 party workers and activists from various Hindu organisations have been killed in the last one year. Some were killed during the Tipu Sultan Jayanti held at Madikeri last year. It is repeating this year as well. We have requested the Home Minister to initiate NIA probe into the killings,” BS Yeddyurappa, State BJP president said.

Karnataka government deployed heavy security force including 119 KSRP platoons, 9,000 Home Guards, and 7 companies of Central forces across the state to prevent any mishap or clash.
