New Delhi: In an incident being reported, four people have been booked by Uttar Pradesh Police for allegedly being involved in trading a newborn child with the help of an Association for Social and Human Awarness (ASHA) worker in Muzaffarnagar, UP on 11 November.
Further disclosing the matter, an official said, “Following the birth of the child at the district hospital, child’s father, with the help of the three others, sold the child without informing the mother of the child”.
The matter was highlighted after the mother of the child filed a complaint with the local police.
Following the complaint the police investigated the matter and the child was recovered while his father Sachin, ASHA worker Sunita and a couple identified as Vikas and Sonia have been arrested. The police further said that Rs 95,000 out of Rs one lakh have been recovered from Sachin which he received for selling the child.
