New Delhi: After the Central government demonetising the Rs 1000 and Rs 500 notes there has been a few incidents reported of large chunks of cash being transferred from one place to another. One such incident was reported in Mandi area of Himachal Pradesh.
A Fortuner car was stopped after police received tip about the car carrying cash. There was a box wrapped with gift wrapping paper but the police noticed that the box was heavier than usual so the police opened the box and found bundles of Rs 1000 notes and Rs 500 notes.
The total cash amounted to Rs 76 lakh and the Fortuner car number HP-58-7707. The car is registered under the name of Himalayan ropeway private limited.
The police has also informed Income Tax department about the incident and the cash has been handed over to them
