New Delhi: Hyderabad police on Sunday arrested two bank officials for depositing Rs 6 lakh demonetised currency notes without ID proofs in a bank. They also allegedly withdrew equal amount of new currency.

The duo was booked on charge of cheating and criminal breach of trust after they deposited the money. The police have registered a criminal against the two bank officials and initiated an investigation into the matter.

Days after the demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 on November 8, anxious people formed long queues at banks to exchange and deposit their demonetised notes.

Reports of commotion and chaos at the banks were frequent during the past few days.
