New Delhi: In the wake of the demonetisation of Rs 500/1000 notes, the government on Monday waived off the car parking charges at all airports throughout the country till midnight of November 21, 2016.
The official spokesperson of the aviation ministry said, “In order to facilitate the smooth movement of passengers, collection of parking charges at all airports is suspended till midnight of 21 November 2016.”
This decision was taken by the Central Government to facilitate smooth movement of passengers.
A statement released by Airport Authority of India (AAI) says, “Citizens are facing currency hardship due to the demonetisation of Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 notes across the nation. Hence, AAI has decided to support this campaign of the government of India and extend possible help to air travellers and airport users. During the present crisis of currency hardship… AAI has decided to waive off car parking charges as a supportive hand to the airport users of the nation from midnight of November 14 to midnight of November 21, 2016. Airport directors of all AAI airports have been directed accordingly.”
Earlier today, the government also extended the suspension of toll tax on national Highways till November 18.
