New Delhi: The Central government on Monday announced to reintroduce compulsory class X board examination for Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) schools from 2017-18 academic years.

Union HRD minister Prakash Javadekar announced the news after a meeting with the Rajasthan Education Minister.

Javadekar said, “We will implement it from the 2017-2018 sessions. Not this year or in the next two months. The final decisions will be announced soon, it is under final consideration.”

In addition to this, Javedkar added that the state governments will be given authority to conduct class V and VIII board examinations.

With the increase in the number of suicides among students, the minster also said the government will provide free online coaching to IIT aspirants.
