New Delhi: In an incident being reported from Bengaluru, two teenage girls have filed a plea seeking protection from their families at Madurai District Legal Services Authority (MDLSA).
The duo filed a plea to seek protection from their parents after they objected to their friendship.
Speaking on the matter, O Panneerselvam, MDLSA member said, “The duo left their homes without informing their parents and reached the temple city a few days ago. They have sought the Centre’s protection to live together.”
The petition filed by the 19-year-old girls said that they are close friends and were studying together in a college in Bengaluru.
Further disclosing the matter, the girls said that their parents were against their friendship and had warned them of severe consequences if they did not end this friendship. They further said that following the friendship their parents have also threatened of acid attack on them.
The petitioners who are living together here also claimed that the Constitution gave them every right to live together as friends and that nobody could “degrade their friendship or threaten them”.
