New Delhi: Delhi Police on Wednesday detained a paediatrician from central Delhi’s Paharganj area for allegedly possessing around Rs 70 lakhs in Rs 100 denomination.
The accused doctor was later identified as Nallal, who had been practising in the Paharganj area of Delhi.
Further disclosing the matter, the police official said that Nallal was allegedly transferring the bundles of cash into his car when a passerby noticed his action and informed the police.
Acting on the tip-off, Delhi Police detained Nallal and it was further disclosed that he was carrying Rs 69,86,000 in Rs 100 denominations.
While being interrogated, the accused told police that his businessman friend had given him the money to keep and he was taking the cash to his house in Rajouri Garden.
The matter has been forwarded to the Income Tax department who are now probing into the matter, police said.
