New Delhi: Police constable couple, Dinesh and Tarakeshwari Rathod were on Thursday suspended from the Maharashtra Police for faking the Mount Everest ascent.
The Rathods had earlier claimed that they scaled the tallest mountain peak in May. However, their claim was found to be “misleading and bogus” by a fact finding committee, set up by police.
“A suspension order has been issued on November 15 and now a department inquiry will be initiated against the couple, which will decide what sort of punishment should be given to them,” said a police official.
According to reports, the police couple never scaled Mt Everest and tried to fake the expedition by morphing photographs. The Couple has been banned by the Nepal govt from entering the country for 10 years.
