New Delhi: Firing fresh cannons at the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Congress has demanded an Income Tax probe and the dismissal of BJP’s Maharashtra Cooperative Minister Subhash Deshmukh after Rs 91 lakh were seized from his car. Following this discovery, Congress further sought an enquiry by the Income Tax department into the bank details of other BJP leaders too.
As per reports doing the rounds, cash worth over Rs 91 lakh belonging to Lokmangal Group of the minister was seized by a squad from Osmanabad municipality yesterday. The cash reportedly comprised of the now-invalid tender of Rs 1000.
Commenting on the incident, Congress alleged that the amount seized from the BJP leaders proves that the leaders of the ruling party are in possession of black money.
Commenting on the incident, Nawab Malik spokesperson of NCP, while addressing the media said, “He (the minister) should be sacked from the ministry and arrested.”
Hitting back at the opposition comments, Subhash Deshmukh said, “I am willing to face any Income Tax inquiry. The 91 lakh were being ferried from one bank to another in a vehicle owned by the bank.”
A few days ago, old currency notes more than Rs 6 crore were seized from the brother of a BJP MLA in western Maharashtra.
