New Delhi: A day after three Indian soldiers were killed by Pakistani suspected terrorists in Machil sector of Kupwara district; the Indian army launched a massive assault on Pakistan along the Line of Control (LoC) on Wednesday morning.
“A fire assault was launched at 9am on Pakistani posts in Kel sector and downwards,” a senior officer told The Hindu.
Machine guns and 120 mm heavy mortars were used to attack Pakistani posts.
Reacting on yesterday’s barbaric attack in which three soldiers were killed, with body of one of them being mutilated, the Army Northern Command said “retribution will be heavy for this cowardly act.”
Earlier on Tuesday, the Indian army killed two terrorists in Handwara district and recovered heavy ammunition along with Rs 2000 notes from them.
After the Indian army conducted surgical strikes across the LoC in September, there has been a rise in ceasefire violations by Pakistan.
