NEW DELHI: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Sakshi Maharaj has yet another time stirred a controversy by claiming that he is a true Muslim and Prophet Muhammad is the biggest practitioner of yoga.

The comments from the saffron party MP came just few days before the world celebrates the International Yoga Day on June 21 and the party is all out to make it a success.

“In Islam, the biggest name is that of Muhammed and I think Muhammed saab is a great yogi. I think that a Muslim is one with ‘iman’, thus a Mussalman. I am a true Muslim,” Sakshi Maharaj said.

There was a big row over the performance of Surya Namaskar on the event scheduled for June 21. Speaking about the same, Maharaj said, “Without the Sun, you and I both would be blind, the whole world would be blind. Those who call the Sun communal, stop taking its light?”

This is not the first time that Sakshi Maharaj has raised such controversial remarks. In the recent past, he dared Uttar Pradesh Minister Mohd Azam Khan to say ‘Jai Shri Ram’.”

“Azam is one person who has never spoken the truth. He is advising Yogi Adityanath to offer namaz,” he said further alleging that he was only misleading Muslims.

“We people belong to Indian culture, where there is no difference between Allah, Bhagwan or God. We can say Allah-o-Akbar, if Azam has courage then he should say Jai Shri Ram,” BJP MP had said.

Yogi Adityanath had recently commented that those who oppose ‘Surya Namaskar’ should ‘drown in the sea’ to which Khan reverted that the BJP leader should ‘offer namaz to set his mind on the right track’.
