New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to address a press conference on Thursday evening over the demonetisation issue. Earlier in the day Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu said that PM Modi would be present in Rajya Sabha from 1 PM and address the issue of demonetisation.
Major uproar in the Upper House resulted in its adjournment for the day.
The PM who was supposed to speak at the Rajya Sabha today, will now address a gathering in the evening.
Since the commencement of the Winter Session of the Parliament, a united opposition which is against the government’s demonetisation move has repeatedly demanded that PM Modi should come and address this issue.
Addressing the issue, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said, “PM will participate in the debate, opposition should start debate.”
Parties like Congress, Trinamool Congress (TMC), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have lashed out at the government saying that it has caused a lot of inconvenience to the people and has also affected small-scale business in the country.
Meanwhile, the government targeted the opposition saying that it was simply running from the main issue and was overlooking the people of the country who are in support of demonetisation.
