New Delhi: Congress leader Shashi Tharoor on Thursday gave notice on urgent public attention under rule of 377 on Jawaharlal Nehru University student Najeeb Ahmad’s missing case.

Najeeb has been missing from the campus since October following an altercation between him and the activists of right-wing ABVP.

Earlier, Tharoor questioned the University vice chancellor for not searching the missing student immediately and demanded an independent investigation.

On Tuesday, members of the Students Islamic Organisation (SIO) of India held a protest march demanding action against those who assaulted the JNU scholar. They condemned the police for still not being able to find him even after a month.

Najeeb Ahmed, a first-year MSc student at the School of Biotechnology went missing after allegedly being beaten up by ABVP members, who had gone campaigning to his room for hostel elections on the night of October 14.
