New Delhi: Opposition parties seem be divided over the ‘Bharat Bandh’ being observed to protest against the demonetisation issue as many key parties decided not to participate in nationwide shutdown on Monday.
While the Left parties including the CPI, CPI(ML) and many others joined the protests, parties like DMK, AIADMK, BSP, NC were absent from opposition meet at parliament held to discuss floor strategy against the government.
Opposition parties had earlier called out for ‘Bharat Bandh’ to protest against NDA government’s sudden demonetisation move. The move has posed huge problems for the common man due to cash crunch in the country.
Prime minister Narendra Modi on Novemeber 8 had announced government’s decision to ban Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes in order to curb black money and corruption prevalent in the country.
